PLANO, TEXAS, December 4, 2007 – For the second year in a row, Adams Golf hybrids were the overwhelming choice by the pros at the PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament, according to the Darrell Survey. The field of 166 golfers, trying to earn their way onto the 2008 PGA TOUR, played a total of 155 hybrids, with Adams Golf hybrids leading the category and accounting for over 40% (65) of that total. This was the 18th time this year that Adams Golf was the top hybrid choice at a PGA TOUR event.
Along with having the #1 hybrid played at Q-School, five of the 26 players who earned full exempt status for next season carried Adams Golf hybrids in their bags, including the Idea Pro and the new Idea a3 Boxer. Among the 26 "graduates" was Adams Golf Tour Staff Pro Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey who finished at 15-under-par. Gainey has risen quickly from playing several years on regional mini tours and a few events this past year on the Nationwide Tour to now playing on the biggest stage in professional golf.
"A lot of my friends believed in me when I didn't and they convinced me," said Gainey, who burst onto the golf scene by winning the Golf Channel's "Big Break IV". "If you have a dream, follow it. And don't let anyone detour you away from it."
The PGA TOUR Q-School wraps up an exceptional 2007 campaign for Adams Golf on tour. According to Darrell Survey data, Adams Golf had 3,724 of its hybrids played on the PGA, Champions and Nationwide Tours in 2007. The next two closest competitors had 2,315 and 1,130 of their hybrids put in play, respectively. Adams Golf finished with the #1 hybrid on the Champions and Nationwide Tours, and the #2 hybrid played on the PGA TOUR.
Adams Golf Tour Staff Pros also finished in the winner's circle 12 times this year on three different tours. Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Brad Bryant, R.W. Eaks, and D.A. Weibring posted wins on the Champions Tour, while Brittany Lincicome captured her second victory on the LPGA Tour. Brad Elder and Scott Sterling earned a trip to the 2008 PGA TOUR with their wins on the Nationwide Tour this past year.
