Allenby, Davis, Van Zyl And Webb Finish In Top 10 On Respective Tours
ATLANTA, March 3, 2008 — Srixon staff professional Mark Brown fired a final-round 67 to win by three shots at the European Tour’s Johnnie Walker Classic. The win is Brown’s second successive tournament victory, as he won the Asian Tour’s SAIL Open last week. Brown’s Johnnie Walker victory earned him an exemption to play on the European Tour through 2010.
The 33-year-old New Zealander had pinpoint accuracy all week with his Srixon I-701 irons and Z-URS golf ball. On the final nine holes of Sunday’s round, he recorded four straight birdies, holes 12-15, to take the lead and secure the victory.
On the PGA Tour, Srixon’s Robert Allenby finished T-4th at the Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens and Brian Davis finished T – 7th. Allenby credits his strong play to the confidence he has in his complete bag of Srixon equipment, which includes Srixon I-506 irons, W-403 fairway woods, the new Z-RW driver, WG-706 wedges and Z-UR golf ball. Davis, who led after two rounds, uses the new Srixon I-701 Tour irons and the multi-layer Z-URS golf ball.
Karrie Webb finished T-5th at the HSBC Women’s Champions in Singapore using the Srixon I-701 Tour irons, Z-RW driver, WG-706 wedges and Z-URS golf ball. On the Sunshine Tour, Jaco Van Zyl finished T-3rd using the Z-URS golf ball.
The recently introduced I-701 irons feature a pocket cavity structure, which effectively lowers and deepens the I-701’s center of gravity allowing for an extremely stable clubhead through impact and making it easier to get the ball airborne for high, straight iron shots.
The Srixon Z-URS golf ball consists of the softest urethane cover the company has ever created. The ball provides soft feel on all shots from tee to green and greenside spin control on approach shots. The ball features a high trajectory 330-dimple pattern that provides a strong and penetrating trajectory in all wind conditions.
