How do I stop topping the golf ball?

What is topping the golf ball?  Basically it is hitting the golf on or above the equator of the golf ball in an upward motion instead of below the equator and in a downward motion. The paradox – “if you want to hit the ball up hit down on it” has never been more true in this swing fault.  What causes the topped golf shot? Essentially your are trying to hit the ball too hard. The harder you try and hit the ball the more you will want to see what you have hit and in the process your head and body will come up. If your body comes up so does your club  will the ball above the equator of the ball and you will top the ball. The golf ball is only 1.62 inches high we are only talking about 0.75 inches in a golf arc change. Not much!
